BIOGRAPHY

 

Barry Van Dyke was born in Atlanta (Georgia - USA) on July 31, 1951.
He is the second son of the extraordinary actor Dick Van Dyke: he has an older brother, Christian, and two younger sisters, Stacy and Carrie Beth.
He is married to Mary and has four children: Carey, Shane, Wes and Taryn. All of them have guest-starred with their father and grandfather Dick in the TV show Diagnosis Murder.
In July 2001 he became a grandfather when Carey's daughter, Ava, was born.

His career started in 1961 with his guest apparence in an episode of Dick Van Dyke Show, entitled "The Talented Neighborhood" (as Florian).
Then he was a main charcter in movies, that is, for example: It Happened at Lakewood (Aka ANTS!), Casino, Galactica 3: Conquest of the Earth, Foxfire Light.
He has co-starred in TV shows, for example: Galactica 80, Gun Shy, Airwolf (4th season), Dick Van Dyke Show (1988).

He has guest-starred in several TV shows, like: Eight is Enough, Mork and Mindy, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Adventures of Matthew Starr, Remington Steele, Magnum P.I., A-Team, T.J. Hooker, Murder She Wrote, Full House.

He was a main character in the following TV movies: Diagnosis of Murder (1992), The House on Sycamore Street (Murder on Sycamore Street), in 1992, and A Twist of the Knife (1993).

From the fall of 1993 to May 2001 he co-starred on the TV show Diagnosis Murder as Lieutenant Steve Sloan.

2002: TV movies (Diagnosis Murder), Town Without Pity and Without Warning.
